The CCP will be highlighting the life and contribution of Balagtas and the imprint his pioneering spirit left in our country’s literature and traditions through the Performatura 2017: Performance Literature Festival. It will be held on March 31, April 1, and April 2, and will bring together Filipino artists from the mainstream, popular, and peripheral artistic communities all over the Philippines.

Beyond mere pageantry, we are aiming to make this year’s Performatura Festival into a stage where performance artists create bonds with the Filipino public through the arts. We’d like nothing more than to inspire the Filipino masses and guide them to the insight that art is inclusive and can encompass different traditions and notions of art practices as well as mirror our myriad ways of living in this country.
