With the theme “(AUTHOR)ITIES,” underscoring the power and voice that come with creation, this year’s Festival, held in celebration of Buwan ng Panitikan or the National Literature Month, will feature various talks, panels, workshops, and a book fair, as well as film screenings, and performances. The event features the capacity of creation to transcend boundaries and create new worlds to bridge gaps in the book industry and in society.

The 9th Philippine International Literary Festival will be graced with the presence of Elaine Castillo, a Filipina writer now based in London, with her highly anticipated book debut, America is Not in the Heart. A gamut of literary and industry heavyweights will join her with writers Glenn Diaz, Kristine Ong Muslim, Kristian Sendon Cordero, Liza Magtoto, Rody Vera, Genevieve Asenjo, MJ Cagumbay Tumamac, and Clarissa Militante. Numerous opportunities, trends, and challenges in the industry will also be tackled by book designers Karl Castro, Ige Ramos, and R. Jordan Santos, as well as graphic lit creators Manix Abrera, Mervin Malonzo, Elbert Or, and Carlo Vergara.

Sessions will touch on timely and relevant discourses on comics, cross-media projects, literacy and reading programs, fiction writing, self-publishing, storytelling programs, book-to-film adaptations, translation, editing, independent publishing, play writing and publishing, popular culture, and much more.
